The History Behind BIG JAKE’S North Woods Style Barbeque Sauce
Years ago we developed the barbeque sauce recipe for what would become BIG JAKE’S North Woods Style Barbeque Sauce. It was the perfect blend of hickory, honey, and spices that reminded us of the homemade grilled flavor of the great outdoors. Our family and friends agreed and we continued to make our homemade barbeque sauce recipe for them for years. It wasn’t long before we discovered that we had stumbled upon a recipe for something special that everyone wanted more of.
We knew we wanted to share our special barbeque sauce with as many people as we could. The use of honey in the barbeque sauce was what set us apart and let us know that we would have a great opportunity to market our barbeque sauce. The honey gives BIG JAKE’S the glazing quality for grilling recipes and a certain sweetness, while the hickory gives the barbeque sauce a distinct smoky flavor that is usually found straight off the grill.
In 1989 we pledged to use only the highest quality ingredients that we use in our own kitchen for BIG JAKE’S Barbeque Sauce. We refuse to compromise this commitment to quality ingredients and this is why we are proud to make what we and many others consider the best BBQ sauce on the market.
